October 06, 2011
The UnbeWiiVables of Margaret Schweinhaut SC, Silver Spring, MD, soundly defeated the Happy Life of The Active Life, LaGrange, FL, in the final match up of the 2011 NSL Fall Wii bowling championship hosted by LeadingAge and sponsored by Aegis Therapies. Coach Karen Maxin’s team led by 64 pins after the first game and upped the count by 149 pins the second game to score a convincing victory. Stephan Hatos, the NSL MVB (Most Valuable Bowler), led the UnbeWiiVables with a 280 and a 259 pin count. The match featured lower than usual scores from the powerful teams as they battled in the NSL final played at a neutral site. Wii bowlers had to fight the pressure along with a totally different environment and the television crews taping the event as they struggled with concentration and finding proper lines and release points.

The Problematic Week 5The Problematic Week 5
September 02, 2011
The big story in week 5 was not the great Wii Bowling and Wii Bowlers but the great coaches we have. They had to endure a computer glitch which made posting scores a nightmare. Under the leadership of Mr. Zach Phillips, our IT guro, we hope we have the problems worked out and we can move to a stress free week 6 and week 7 leading to the playoffs.
Week 6 and week 7 are going to be challenging to coaches, players and the NSL staff. WEEK 6 REQUIRES 2 MATCHES WITH SCORES FOR WEEK 6 MATCHES POSTED BY THE END OF TUES., SEPT 6 AND SCORES FOR WEEK 7 POSTED BEFORE THE END OF FRI, SEPT 9.
NSL week 5 shoutouts to Bob Bigham and Evelyn Kelly for Wii Bowling 2 perfect games giving Bigham 4 in a row; to Grover Kelly (joining the NSL 300 Club); to Edith Kellog for her 599 total; to Jack Lucas’ big games (Stryke Force), Roberta Hudson’s 299 and Rachel Padgett’s (a pair of 289’s); to big numbers posted by the UnbeWiiVables, the SAS Strikers and The Active Life teams from LaGrange, Ga; and to the Abbey Inmates for their highest series of the year. BUT THE LOUDEST NSL SHOUTOUT GOES TO THE COACHES. Happy Wii Bowling over the next 10 days as we head to the playoffs.
WEEK 4
August 26, 2011
We’re over the hump and into the final 3 weeks. Teams on the move include Bernie Katz’s, Alley Oops, Sy Weinberg’s, Abbey Inmates, the Screamin Wii Mii’s, Methuen Village and Capitol Retirement Village 1 led by Wii Bowlers Marty Manker and Shirley McBride.
It was a big week for Terry Alburger’s, Perfect Pinbusters, led by Doris Mager’s 300 challenged but could not get over the hump against the powerful UnbeWiiValbles. It was a big week for Edith Kellog, Sunshine Strikers 1, as she joined the NSL 300 Club for the first time and a big day for Donnie Jordan, Margaret Kinnard and Bob Brigham, all Wii rolling a 600 series.
It was a good week for the Pin Polishers who defeated The Powerballs in a close match; for the Dawson Rollers defeating a very tough Striking Seniors 1 team; and for the Magic Strikers (Magnolia Ridge) who defeated the Pin Mii’s (Cosby Highrise).
Other good efforts included Vern Larson and Ruth Ray (Gutterballs) who topped the 200 mark for the first time and the Cerrito Falcons who used a balanced attack to climb in the league standings.
Week 3 - NSL NewsWeek 3 - NSL News
August 21, 2011
As we enter week 4 of the 7 week conference chase, powerhouse NSL teams are being challenged by new teams in the league as well as veteran teams making vast improvements. Newcomers, the Sunshine Strikers 1 and 2 and the Dawsonville Rollers are raising eyebrows as they continue to post competitive scores. Veteran teams the Perfect Pin Busters and the Wii Warriors and Wii Rangers are pushing for championship status.
Individually, the NSL 300 Club continues to gain new membership with Jack Lucas (Stryke Force) and Tommy Buttrum (Happy Strikers) joining 14 fall members totaling 31 games of perfect Wii bowling. NSL Shoutouts to Carolyn Hayes (Dawsonville Rollers) and Vestal Thomas (Golden Spurs) for rolling 600 series. Carolyn in Week 2 and Vestal in Week 3.
We’ve have had a few concerns about the different levels of play in the league. First and foremost, remember that the NSL is for fun, is social, builds friendships within communities and builds team spirit among teammates and within the community. As for the different levels of ability - the top Wii bowlers (1) are serious about their scores; (2) remain competitive; (3) practice more than they play: and (4) have been Wii bowling for a long time. The NSL takes the different levels into consideration when at the end of 7 weeks of league play, the 3 week playoff series is divided into the Championship Division, the Elite Division and the Master Division - all by level of play. Everyone has a chance in the final weeks to win. Most of all remember to have fun!
The new NSL website is up and running. A few tweaks remain. Please visit the blog found on the front page each week. Also, write about your team and add team photo’s when you post scores as both appear on the front page of the statistical records. Help get the word out about your team and their successes. Tell your friends and friends and family of team members to view the site for updates.
